Postgraduate Specialist Study in Corporate Finance Law

The Postgraduate Specialist Study in Corporate Finance Law is established with the aim of providing  Masters of Law or Economy,  as well as persons  of other professions related to companies, an opportunity to systematically acquire knowledge in commercial law, corporate law, and financial law and related non-legal disciplines which are needed for the efficient management of financial and other aspects of company business.

The Study has its justification in the needs of the labour market, both in the private  sector (it is especially suitable for self-employed entrepreneurs, corporate lawyers, and attorneys) and in the public sector (judiciary, tax administration, etc.). The Study is specific because classes in the second semester are carried out in two modules. In Module A, emphasis is placed on courses  which seek to establish financial discipline within a company. In Module B courses, students acquire knowledge  of  legal institutes which  help companies, especially in the context of doing business abroad, to  operate or to enforce the resolution of  unsettled claims.

Out of 12 core courses (one of which is  economic  in Module A) and 13 elective courses (five of which are non-legal), students choose a portfolio of courses which will enable them to acquire  missing knowledge and skills  in the domains of their interest; it should be noted that the elective courses are not only from the field of law, but also from the fields of economics and psychology. As the study is open to persons who have acquired a university degree (300 ECTS), it meets the needs for educating  entrepreneurs  from different fields who want to master the basic legal institutes of a company’s financial operations.

Upon completion of this studies, students are awarded the academic title of University Specialist in Corporate Finance Law (Univ. spec. iur.). Seeing that persons with university degrees can also enrol into this Study, and given the shortage of professionals who deal with corporate finance law and related issues in practice, the enrolment quota for this study programme is 50 students. The programme is primarily intended for people working in companies, law offices, and public administration bodies and it is carried out as a part-time study.
